Ugh....my husband (and children) are applying for PR under the family category with me as a sponsor as I already have my PR. We've had the paperwork all filled out for AGES but were waiting on OH's blood work for his medical to come back.

I told him if the HIV, Hep B or Syphillis came back positive, I'd kill him before the disease could but they were all clear.

The problem we DID encounter was that the other tests came back, the docs office held onto them (!!) while they waited for the HIV test to come back ...so we waited three weeks before getting the results. Turns out he was SERIOUSLY anemic...and his liver function was all off.

Unfortunately, when OH went to collect the results, he didn't provide any extra info or ask any extra questions...just got told that he was to go for more tests and come back in a week. Very frustrating.

So...he had more tests done last week....stool samples (yummmm) for three days (double yummm) and more blood work.

The results were back today...drum roll please.....he is still slightly anemic but so very slightly it just barely showed on the results. And his liver function is back to normal!!!

WOOOOO!!!!

Paperwork is being sent to Washington D.C. by FedEx on Monday. Then we begin our wait ..... ugh.

Apparently his liver function was off because he'd been taking Ibuprofen DAILY for almost 6 months before the tests cos he had a bad tooth. Fool. He won't do THAT again.

YAY!!! I'm doing a happy dance over here. We certainly won't be there by end of January as we'd hoped....or even by end of February probably. But maybe by the end of March??

interesting to read your comment about your OHs liver results being off because of taking ibuprofen for that amount of time...what else affects the results?

PS Hope that he fits in a visit to the dentist before you go...

That is great news...Good luck...My husband's application for PR was sent to Washington DC and the time frame from beginning to approval was 3 months 9 days.

3 months 9 days from when you started putting it all together or from when DC received it??

I had a false positive. On the way to work while driving the docs phoned me up and had to explain that the HIV tests came back as positive, they then do another check which is more accurate which came back negative. One reason for this is a HepC booster, which I had double doses of when we went travelling as the first one didn't give enough immunity. The first HIV test is 99.8% accurate or something, with the second one being 99.99 odd percent but costing more (which is why they do the cheap test).

That must've been a kick to the stomach moment - and while you were driving.
