Hi Forum Members.....

As a new member, firstly I would like to say Hi, and look forward to utilising this excellent resource.

I have made the decision that I would like to emmigrate to NZ. This has been a well considered decision, and I am confident that I have thought it through.

I would really appreciate some advice on options. My background is as follows:

-26
-B.Sc. of Science, Cairo University,Egypt.
-Major : Chemistry
-3 Years industrial Experience in ink Industry
-don`t have job offer
-didn`t have IELTS yet ,but my english is good.

Chemist is in the Immediate Skills Shortage, but not in the immigration profession - am I missing something?

am I qualified?
Should I take IELTS before EOI?Should I send any Documents?

Go to www.immigration.govt.nz and check the points you may possibly get, then decide further. You donot need IELTS at the time of EOI.

Hi there.
Chemist is not on the Long term skill shortage list (LTSSL) so unless your points are high enough for the selection criteria you may have problems meeting the selection threshold. I think you are saying it is on the Immediate skill shortage list (ISSL) which isn't as useful for immigration. The ISSL is good for helping your employer prove that they should hire you rather than a local worker as there is a shortage of local workers.

I don't know what the selection criteria is at this time of year so you may want to look at recent past selections to see if you have enough points.
Generally the selection criteria is broken down as follows:
140 and above: selected
100/105-135 with a job offer: selected
100/105-135 with a skill on the LTSSL: selected
(those last 2 are broken down in 5 point increments 130-135, 125-130 and so on, but usually people with job offers or skills on the LTSSL are selected if they have over 100 points)
105-135 with no job offer or skill on LTSSL- this varies and this is the category you would fit in (from what you have described) without a job offer and if you have enough points.

One other thing you may want to think about is getting a NZQA of your degree. There was another member on here who had a huge hassle getting his NZQA done and he had a degree from Egypt as well. Once you get 5 posts you can PM (private message) people. You may want to PM or look for posts by Mesh2008.

Good luck!
