SCUBA Diving around Auckland?

Anyone able to give a brief list of possible SCUBA sites around the Auckland area? What's it like, what is there to see, etc. Reefs, wrecks (any planes)?

Also, am I able to ship my cylinder via (ship) container? If empty (valve open)?

Thanks,
Dar,

I can't answer your questions but there is some information on the website about diving:

If you ship a bottle make sure it has a lab number on it. I have an old bottle in perfect condition that I can't use cos it hasn't got one stamped on it, and the bottle tester can't find any info on the bottle to check it out. It's a Bosch bottle, made in Italy so is superb quality. Bit of a bummer....

The Lab number is a new one on me, but the cylinder is due a retest now so I'll ask the tester about that. This will be it's first test! The Cyl is a Faber - does anyone know if it would already carry a Lab number? I guess not as I suspect the Lab number is that of the testing station???

Whenever cylinders are pressure tested they must have the unique stamp of the test station stamped onto the bottle along with the test date. I'm assuming this is the stamp they can't find??

fabers are common in nz, and your bottle is probably covered by a lab number. the list is at http://www.ermanz.govt.nz/search/gcreg.xls.

However, I guess the issue is not the lab number for your batch opf cylinder, but the authority to stamp it on the collar. The cyclinderss are controlled by ERMA, I suggest you contact them for advice.
