Hi,

I need some help in understanding NZQA's process.

I have a Masters level degree in Computer science from a German University.

My Question:-

1. Why are german universities not listed in the List of recognized qualifications?
http://www.immigration.govt.nz/opsmanual/i9780.htm
I got my PAR done and it got listed as Level 9 but now need a full assessment done.

2. What bodies does NZQA interact with for getting information on accreditation? Does it look for accreditation for a course or for a University or both?

3. When I completed my degree the University was not accredited. It is accredited now. Is this an important consideration for NZQA?

Would appreciate if I can get help soon :)

BTW... ITA received...Arranging all documents for NZQA.

Thanks,
Sidharth

Quite honestly, I doubt there is anybody around here who really UNDERSTANDS the NZQA - for people having to submit their qualifications for consideration, they're like a force of nature.:uhoh

Therefore, I haven't any opinion on point 1.

For point 2, from what I've heard from other people's experience, what they do is to inspect a transcript of each degree, looking at the course content and standard, and then state the level they are assigning it, enabling it to be compared with NZ qualifications. (They aren't investigating the university itself as it is, merely what the individual who has submitted their qualification did there, at that time.) I have heard of people's universities being contacted by NZQA, presumably for confirmation or clarification of what the candidate has submitted about their attendance and course, but I don't know that even the candidate themself would ever hear if any other body, whatever it might be, had been approached by NZQA.

Point 3 - again, who can say?

Good luck with your process.:nice1

I remember to see the letter NZQA sent to institution where I studied asking whether on that particular date my institution was accredited with the awarding body. If they dug deep in your case there is less chance NZQA will issue assesment results. But in most cases they don't go much in details, so its matter of luck. I wish you good luck.

No knowledge of how and when they recognise a university.
