No we're not looking to leave just yet - but there is a deal with the Flight Centre (http://www.flightcentre.co.nz/flightsdetails.asp?deal=284) and House of Travel (http://www.houseoftravel.co.nz/booknow.htm?GreatAirfare=66&origin=Auckland&destination=London) with a deal on at the moment of $2,000 return trip to London. Other travel agents may have the same deal...

The conditions - inbound travelling to London via Hong Kong. Outbound travelling to Auckland via Los Angeles (about 2 hours lay over in each one) and must be bought between 18 - 24 January 2009 travelling between 01 March - 30 June 2009.

Not bad, eh? :nice1

Air New Zealand say they have 2,000 seats @ $2,000 for return trips to London - wonder if that's the flights being sold above?

Yes, same here, double :wah It is a $5000 (!) difference for us if we go on this deal or two weeks later in July! Sigh.

They're doing a similar deal the other way round - UK/ NZ return.

We were about to start thinking about a trip back around that time.
How much cheaper approx than normal are these tickets for that time of year?
Are we talking mega-bargin or just a few $ cheaper?

I'd say you'd be saving yourself around $500 per person at least, with Air NZ anyway. Travel in May and June tends to start getting a bit busy and fares creep up a bit because of Northern Hemisphere springtime :yes
