Hi All,

My CO emailed me 4 months ago that we are doing character check in New Zealand and waiting for the results to come from New Zealand. She said for the people who will be issued with PR or WTR, we are doing such checks.

All applicants are subject to character checks. See A5.1 below. And that all information provided is subject to verification and this may take some time.

A5.1 Requirement of good character

Applicants for all visas and permits must:

a. be of good character; and
b. not pose a potential security risk

Could anybody explain please, what kind of checks are included in this character check. I have included police clearence with my ITA and understand that now NZIS is doing it from their side.

Thanks

Not sure anyone will be able to answer you question on exactly what is checked?

If you have ever been to NZ already, then NZIS will ask the NZ police for any details that they have about you (this would be the most common check).

They will also be checking your application for potential identity fraud.

There is also a Immigration Profiling Group that examines applications from countries that are considered high risk.
