We were told by agencies that no employers wanted to employ anyone until they were actually in the country and we had allowed 3 months for Rob to find a job after we arrived on 21st May. Just to test the water, he applied for two jobs advertised in the Dominion via agencies and was offered one last night. It is a Senior Oracle DBA working for Unisys in Wellington. Rob is over the moon and it will certainly take the pressure off money when we get there.
All he had was a 1.5 hour telephone interview (technical) and a 20 minute interview with the big boss. They were going to organise a video conference but that got too complicated...
S0 - miracles can happen!
Now the only problem is they want him to start on 30th May - giving us so little time to settle down. :?

Excellent news guys, shame it is to start so soon after getting there, but hey it outways having to live of your savings too long.

Seems positive that he's managed to get an IT job by phone, keeping fingers crossed for us that nearer the time we leave (August) something similar may happen to Andy.

Congrats Jennie and Rob!

We're sort of "floating out there" in this easter weekend, but hope to have some positive news after the Easter weekend about hubby's possible IT job as well. Now it seems they are eager to have him over there. Might even have to settle for him already moving over there and leaving me and the rest behind for a bit? :roll: If that will be the case I seriously will need that strong drink! One of these :cheers won't do then! :P
