Hi, I'm going on holiday to Melbourne for a week. Will my Telecom mobile work in Melbourne? I also have VodaFone so If not I can take my Vodafone. I'm not sure if either work in Australia please let me know. I don't plan on talking extensively I just want to use it in emergencies etc.... Thanks,

Some Telecom phones will work, but AFAIK most won't.
Simplest option is to check Roaming Journey Planner (http://www.telecomroaming.co.nz/JourneyPlanner.aspx) which will give you the answer for your phone.
Depending on if you are on contract or not, you can also borrow a loan mobile from Telecom (might be another option).
If you decide on Vodafone then depending on your contract you may need to contact them to enable global roaming.

I have a prepaid Vodafone mobile. It always works when I go over there.
