My OH had a drunken driving charge 17 years ago.

His lawyer at the time said it would be scrapped after 10 years but now we're scared it will come up on the police clearance.

Anybody out there have some kind of record or can offer any advice, please help!!

Thx!

You shouldn't find it will block your application. Here's a link to another thread where you'll find the link to the necessary information. http://www.emigratenz.org/forum/showthread.php?t=18157&highlight=criminal+record

Given that I have the same on my police record, I have looked into it quite a bit.

If you are applying for residence, it appears they are only bothered about drink-driving (and other more serious traffic offences) if it occured within the last 5 years. It says this in the operations manual as I read it only last week.

The police certificate (assuming you are from the UK) will likely say 'No Live Trace', so you should definitely still declare the conviction as they still want to know about ALL convictions.

Given the length of time since the conviction, I would be confident of it having no bearing on the application.
