Hi all

Has anyone been fishing off the beach in the Kapiti area?

Ii'm about to sell all my UK fishing gear and am looking forward to some beach fishing in the Parapara area when we hit NZ in April.

Anyone experienced this yet?

Think seriously about selling your gear. There is english style course fishing locally with Tench,perch and rudd and a local Club that fishes the NZ Nationals. A recent match was won with over 70LB of tench and its not uncommon to catch 15 + in an everning. There is a good market for UK gear as supplies are hard to come by and expensive to ship over. Carp can be found in numbers above Hamilton. As for sea fishing Snapper are caught from the beaches on The kapiti coast. I have recently purchased a Sea Kayak to get out a bit further. I also attended a sea fishing course at onslow college to get a good head start. PM me for further info
