$30-40k not much. Depends if you work in or out of the city. check out trademe and put hairdressing in search for job section. Most hire a chair and there is part time work too.

Someone mentioned recently that a mobile hairdresser was good but not taking any more customers.

There also seems a distinct lack of mobile hairdressers - which could be a gap in the market. Also one house that we looked at had changed the laundry into a one chair hair dressers complete with sink and stuff, so that is also worth considering. ( I have ended up paying far more for a hair cut than I every would have in the UK )

My plan was to either work in a salon part-time when I get there or go freelance!
Are there any good salon suppliers about?
