words of encouragement for those other job seekers.. despite the doom and gloom and considering i work in financial services, I am getting interviews for well paid senior roles. i spose the moral of the story is that if you're skilled (which we all are on smc visa) then employers are always looking for good people. on the otherhand, i havent had an offer yet:exit

How are you doing it?! Do you contact the actual companies or just through seek or something?! I don't really have a special trade but I send out my CV through Seek and get nothing... I hope it isn't so hard when we actually get there!

im just applying for anything that is close to my skills. average about 3 a day id say. I think the fact that I have dates that ill be in NZ helps as well.

good question which is difficult to answer as im a bit of an anomaly!

my background is in mortgage packaging at director level and im a bit of a weird one as ive held sales positions and operations/risk which are 2 sides of the same coin. ie: lending volumes and restricting lending.

also packaging is both sides as well as you act on behalf of the lender and their processes but also have to do whats best for the end client which can be a tricky balance to strike, keeping commercial decisions and regulatory decisions in favour of all parties. if you need anything else, feel free to pm me :)

you snowed in today?There are parts of Dorset you can't get through today - they've got snow-ploughs out in the little lanes. It has been thawing a bit this morning, but it's now clouded over again and is looking like more snow.

We did have a covering of snow first thing but it has gone now. It has just started snowing again but the sun is out so I don't think it will last.

I hope Heathrow is back to normal by next week for your recce. We fly out on the 15th .....it's coming round fast.
