Anyone know if you need to register to be a childminder in NZ and how difficult it is to get it. My wife thought about this once, I couldn't do it, but as we have two, 5 + 2yrs, is it worth considering. Alternitavely, how much is child care in NZ if she has to go to work.

For a pre-school/creche I was paying $135 per week full time.
That was just over a year ago - so I reckon you are talking about $150 or there abouts full time.
(Not many part time places available because they need the guaranteed income from the full timers).


Sorry - not sure about registration for Childcare - I think the organisation is called Barnardos......will go and have a look.....
