Well today was a big day. We got our PR today. For my wife and I, this was a journey that started almost 3 1/2 years ago when we first started seriously considering this move back in fall of 2005.
Along the way, we considered going over on WHVs to find work and obtain PR that way and just giving up on the idea all together. But we never did. It took just the right set up circumstances (and a lot of waiting) and our window of opportunity was there. For us, this was my qualification appearing on the LTSSL and the EOI selection point levels getting down below 105 so our EOI would get selected last summer.
I guess what I am getting at is to never give up on your dreams. In my opinion, perseverance is what got us PR, not my qualification, not work experience. Even though this is not something that will get you points on your EOI, it is what will get you into NZ someday, somehow.
We joined this forum back in fall of 2005. We have not posted a huge amount - mainly to ask questions, and to give what limited information we had learned to others as we worked through the PR process ourselves. However, we have learned a tremendous amount since then. I can say that if it were not for these forums, there is a good chance we might not have PR today. Whether it was answers to our questions, or simply reading other people's successes and failures going through the process - the information gained was invaluable.
So I just want to say thanks to everyone posts here to make this place such a valuable resource. Whether you post a lot or a little, every little bit makes a difference and puts lots of valuable info out there for future immigrants:cheers
