Thanks to everyone who replied to my urgent cry of help, your advice and experiences were of great help. We took a road trip to Liverpool today, and 4 hours later I have a new passport that is guarenteed not to expire! Anyone in a similiar situation I would advise to just get a new one then at least you have peace of mind. Another job ticked off the to do list and count down to the big move is underway, 2 & 1/2 weeks to go!! Thanks again :bluebanana
