Having done some searching, I still cant find the answer to this one.
It looks like we are going to go out and take it from there on the job front, and we would like to ship our stuff at the same time.
Does anyone know how we stand? IE. Are we able to put it into storage in NZ until we get a work permit (or better still, PR).
I think it is much cheaper to store there than here, and it would simplyfy things if we can just get it released when we need it rather than waiting a further six to eight weeks for the ship to get down. :hopeso

I think that somewhere in the dim and dusty past this has come up before. I am pretty sure its ok, logic being that a lot of people buy houses here but don't have residency here. It may be that you have to pay a bond that is returnable on a work or residents visa being issued.

Ditto to Veronica's reply. I seem to recall reading somewhere that you can pay a bond that's released when a visa is granted. I think I read it on a brochure from PSS. May be worth a look on their website to see if the brochure is reproduced? Of course, you could have a look on the actual Customs site. I'm sure that will mention it somewhere.
