If the NZ dollar goes to 40cent will prices in NZ rise and be expensive for those earning in NZ dollars?

in theory it should only affect the price of imported stuff. the plus side is that it will attract more tourism which should help the economy.

Though except for foods most things are imported, so it will no doubt have an effect. Already electronics seem to have risen since late last year, and of course petrol is already way more expensive even tough the US$ dollar is well down.

petrol seems to be driven by world prices rather than the nz $ rate.

And even food produced in New Zealand would be rise as it would be more profitable to export it.
They forgot to tell us about the downside to globalisation!

I was shopping for bicycles about a month ago. There was a bike I liked that was on sale, but they didn't have it in my size. The guy in the shop said that they were getting more soon, but that they would be more expensive, because of the currency effects. :wah
