hello, we're trying to make a decision about whether to ship our mountain bikes (2 x adult, 1 kid's) or not. Can anyone recommend a place that sells bikes in the Auckland area, so we can do a bit of cost comparison? i.e. shipping ours -v- buying new ones when we get there. Thanks:nice1

We've only looked at bikes for DD1's Christams present, so don't have a vast knowledge, but we tried Hedgehog bikes (http://www.hedgehog.co.nz/), Warehouse and K-Mart - got her a mountain bike style, 20", 6 speed bike for $109 which we were very pleased with (price and bike!)

I wouldn't recommend the lower end bikes from Warehouse or Kmart if you are going to do any serious biking...

Try looking at R&R sports, Avanti Plus, Bike Barn, Pack & Pedal.. pricey, but you get good service (especially from R&R & Avanti).

I'd ship your existing bikes, they don't a great deal of room up in a container. Bikes are no cheaper in NZ, unless you can get some 08 models. Prices seem to have increased noticeably on 09 models.

Also second hand values of bikes isn't that great, so I doubt you'd get much on them in the UK.
