I think we'll need a 40 footer as we're shipping a vehicle, trailer and contents of a four bed house. It seems that most people are quoted around £3,000 upwards for a 20', so I'm wondering what a 40' will cost. Any ideas? :?

soory cant help you on the cost front , the only thing i can suggest is to ring the removable firms in the uk and just ask them for a ball park figure on the basis of a full 40' container ( didnt realise they did them that big!!!) or maybe you might get good deal using two 20' containers. i have no idea really  but you dont know if you dont ask.
Good luck
Nicola

One 40' plus one 20' total £5600 with Bishops Move. Including all packing and delivery at this end.

40' had two cars with remaining 10' of furniture/boxes that woldn't it in the 20'. 20' container was solid.

Totals

20'container - 193 Boxes/items
40' Container - 54 Boxes/Items plus 2 cars

On Jan/Feb prices I reckon shipping only of a 20' container must be around £1200 and around £2200 for a 40' . Packing of boxes and then ino a container and local collection/delivery depends on where and how much.

Hi,

We asked this question at the recent Expo open day, and were given a rough figure of £5000 - £5500 for the larger crate (sorry, cannot remember which shipper).

Pickfords quaoted us just over £8000 for a 40ft high cube - including car - just over £6000 without car - needless to say we'll be shopping around!

HI Leslie - £1200 was a bit of awild assed guess based upon a best quote for sole use of 20' for shipping a car - All the quoting co. were doing was organising the shipping from their depot to customs at this end. I figured they couldn't be adding more than £100 to what they would be charged, to cover there admin and profit.

If your quote for £1600 included bring the container to your house to be packed by you then you need to factor in the transport costs and organisation of that element of the "trip"

plus prices have increased since Jan

Of course, it all depends on where you live and where you what region of NZ you want to emigrate to.

We were quoted last autumn £5,000 from PSS, £5,900 from Crown and £6,000 from Pickfords. Crown reduced theirs by a few hundred and we are going with them.

I have been told that the previous quotes from PSS and Pickfords will probably have gone up due to recent shipping increases.
