Will it be faster?
My EOI selected on 11 Feb 2009. Still no news yet. I'm on Visitor Permit now. Going to expires soon. :(
If possible I want to stay until getting PR. Any reckon?

Applications for PR within NZ are said to take longer than the UK and other places. I can't say how long exactly, but I think its about 6-9 months wait.
You might want to think about another visa type, you can get a work permit fairly quick but I could not say what the requirements are, check out the INZ site or maybe another forumite could help.

You might want to talk to INZ and ask for advice, if you have already been declined a work permit I am unsure of how you can stay. You can extend a vistors visa but I have never had to do that so could not advise.

I submitted my EOI in December, was selected 3 weeks ago and still haven't heard any news. It's driving me spare! I'm checking the INZ site twice daily now!

Well not quite, I lodged it on the 3rd Feb, and am hoping I have it by 26th Feb - beginning to worry that I won't though and not quite sure what I am going to do!
If I don't get it I could lose my job (in fact it's almost certain as I am only a temp), and I will have to get by financially on a fairly small amount of money, not to mention trying to get a job again once I get the actual thing.
I'm not even sure what the situation is re: being here without a permit - I certainly couldn't afford to go elsewhere to wait (well, not without paying for such a trip via credit card which is already quite high on debt).
It's just a nightmare waiting and not having a clue what's going on - the helpline give you different answers every time as well - my mate has called up twice in 2 weeks, 1 week he was told about 20 working days turnaround, and yet today he is told 45 days?!? It's nothing short of a shambles!

Bit of progress. I had an email from a guy at the INZ in London asking for a copy of my university degree certificate so I know AT LEAST they're looking at it! I'm hoping I might hear if my selection is going to go through soon!
