Hello,
i'm new to the forum we are expecting our visa in the next 2 weeks and i'm looking for a house in Christchurch maybe for 2/3 month to give us time to look around... to choose a location we like , i'll be working close to "cnr Bealey Ave" if anybody know a property .:nice1

Your best bet is probably to check out trademe - most of the real estate agents advertise their properties on there, as do private landlords.

Well, I'd expect something dull for a month to month (2-3 month rental) as most of the nicer ones will want 1 year leases.
For something nicer you will probably want to pay over 300 per week, though there are decent places to be had for less if you have time to look. Don't go too far down toward 200 unless you want a 1 bedroom IMO as the quality will suffer.
I'd offer you the place I'm renting but I don't want to live here any more and am moving out for a 1 year lease place so probably not the best bet...:D

Not sure where on Bealey you will be working but Merivale is a nice suburb. If you are working on Bealey I'd advise getting a place north of the city as going N/S and E/W has some limited routes. St. Albans is also nice as are Bryndwr and Fendalton. Riccarton may be a bit out of the way though. I'd have a look at a google map of Christchurch to see what suburbs are close to where you want to be and then look for places on Trademe in those areas.

If you see something you like go to a viewing (those are as much for you to see the place as for the agents or landlords to get to know you) as soon as possible and put in for the place. It may take a few tries to get accepted or maybe you will be lucky.

Would you consider an apartment or are you set on a house? There are some nice apartments (ours is 3 bedrooms with pool, etc.) near Bealey (not sure where on Bealey you will be?). We found ours from rental company called Christchurch Accomodation that had several options.

Hoopps !! my wife told me today my visa will be there next week :nice1 i 'll will stay in a cheap hotel for a week it will give me some time to have look , could be a better option , i have a small dog ( 5 kg Yorky ..) seem a lot of house owner don't allow pets....

Let me say, as someone renting with 2 dogs, that you will have the best luck finding a rental that allows dogs from private landlords. You may have some limited luck with agencies, but private landlords are probably your best bet. With 1 small dog you will certainly have a better time than I did though. :)
Services like www.homeads.co.nz allow you to search private landlords by whether they allow dogs so that may be helpful for you.
