See what happens when you worship in the Church NZIS for long enough. Now I bet you're wondering what all the worrying was about.
Well done mate - now you can enjoy planning your new life for real.
Congratulations

Back from work now, so I can say a huge thank you to everyone for your messages! :yes
Yes, we're so relieved. I got up this morning and did my ususal e-mail check. Nothing. Then at work I logged into our family e-mail to give it one last, half-hopeful check of the day (knowing that it would by then be about 6pm London time and that our case officer would probably be tucking into her dinner by then anyway! :laugh )... and found this:
Hi Vera
I am pleased to advise that we have approved your application for residence. You have authorised payment of the migrant levy of £345.00. Please confirm that we can also take £34.00 from this card for return of your passports and documents by DHL Courier.
The issuing will take up to 4 weeks, as there is a queue.
Kind regards...
It's been five months since we were selected, and we are grateful to NZIS for making this as smooth a process as we could have expected. Y'see, and I know that many of you are probably of the same mind, less than a year ago we would hardly have had a shot at a solid work visa, let alone upfront PR. So we are really, really grateful to NZIS for their help, and to this forum for pretty much the same reason. We want to carry on seeing if we can help others as we have been helped on these boards.
And if you're still waiting: things do move and things do change, sometimes very quickly, even when the going seems like treacle. :nice1 Let's all aim to have a beer in NZ as soon as we can! :cheers
Cheers,
Matt, Vera and Winston.

I realize that I didn't answer a few questions you guys kindly asked. Here are at least some answers:
I handed in my notice yesterday (formal letter to follow tomorrow) and plan to leave in mid-June. I will probably travel a week or so ahead of my wife and son (to Auckland first and probably then Welli) so that at least one of us will be fairly non-jet-lagged and will be able to set up a few practical elements such as rental accommodation.
And, yes, much of the real work starts here!
Cheers,
Matt.
