Quick question
1st off I am a Kiwi (born & educated in NZ)
I’m a tool & diemaker with a Canadian interprovincial licences (red seal) and served my apprenticeship in the province of Ontario. I also cobbled together mechanical engineering degree through night school. Throw in a diploma in Computer Integrated Manufacturing and another for robotics. At present I am manager of methods engineering for a large company that repairs and overhauls aircraft jet engines. I did see 3 engines from NZ last year.
The wife & I only want to come back for a year max and only if things get slow which they are not because we are scratching to keep up, but things could change in a hurry.
1. I don’t want to work in manufacturing I would like to work on a sheep station as I was brought up around sheep. Is there any work like that around?
2. If I had to work as a toolmaker I have an old NZ trade certificate, came out of my time in 68. This is probably obsolete as no one works this way any more.
3. Does NZ recognise Canadian Trade certs? Tool & die makers license is still valid as I clock my 200 hours machine time a year. I have 35 years experience 20 years on CADCAM and CNC including 5-axis.
4. Are there any shops that don’t make molds and press tooling? I have done enough of it for a lifetime.
5. The reason why ask this is because when I was back in 79 employers were more interested in my Ontario license than the NZ one.
If we decide to come back I really want to get away from what I do now for a year and rural life would be nice but if I have to work in town I would like to do something interesting.
Thanks.

Hi, not sure on the answers to your questions, but I think that as a returning Kiwi you do not have many restrictions on your return

your partner will have to look into the options for visas - if she is not planning on working then there are several 'visitor' options and if things change while you are here then you can always submit applications whilst in NZ
