After my reccie vs car vs DIY quandry the other day, plenty of people have said why buy a car if you can manage without.
Well today I managed to cycle home with 4 tins of paint from B&Q, so no car needed here yet!! Mind you I need kitchen units next, anyone got a wheelbarrow??? ;)

It's amazing how much you can fit in a rucksack (3 tins) and then a bag on each handlebar, but I had to stop at Tesco and buy some groceries to even up the load!!
Mind you, I did have to walk up a hill, but I think I can be forgiven in the circumstances!!

Recently I've been so over-loaded on my bike, I've dropped a 12 pack of loo roll and a big bunch of bananas, right into the middle of the road as I whizz around a corner! Panniers only take so much!

I'm sure the hardware or whoever sells the kitchen cabinets would deliver. It would still be cheaper than buying a car. Probably alot cheaper than one tank of gas! Good for you.

you could also build a large van size box out of plywood and fashion some holes for the wheels then you can sit inside and pedal away while keeping dry and carrying various large household items!

Do they have those child tent trailers there? I had a boss who would bike everywhere and would carry his elderly dog around in one of those. I often saw other people carrying groceries, loads of books and other things that would normally be unwieldy on a bike.

Something like that, there are various brands.

In Cambridge Uk, I saw people cycle with:
a door (full sized)
fishing rod (extended)
umbrellas
wheelie bin
pram (hopefully empty).
So lots of scope.

I once transported my new computer on my bike. This was back in the good old days when computers didn't come laptop sized and no-one had ever heard of flat screens. More creative ideas on bike transportation:

Anyone seen the old police clip where someone was carrying a plank, width ways across the bike?
