uhoh.. i have had an email today stating that my new employer in nz :

"Unfortunately NZ Immigration no longer allows *** to use its Accredited Employer Permit for Banking ****** positions as they feel these roles can be easily filled by New Zealanders. J and G wish to apologise to you as they were not aware of this recent policy change.

If you are able to come to New Zealand without assistance G would very much like to meet with you again and discuss options."

As far as i can gather, I don't need assistance as I can get a work permit myself and slap in an EOI with a job offer.
Am I missing something here?

You might be right, but you would need enough points though, and although job offer helps a lot, it's not enough. First thing to check is do you enough other points? If so then go for it! Hope you get it sorted :)

Oh no, I hope it can be sorted!
are your skills on the LTSSL or ISSL? Maybe then you could apply for a work visa with the job offer?
Also is the 110 for your EOI with or without a job offer? If it's without could you submit (with a fairly good chance of being drawn) and if you get a job offer you add later to boost the process?
Fingers crossed for you

long story but we have 105 without the offer which will be 125 in a couple of weeks as elaine qualifies.

If you have 105 without the offer an offer should give you another 50 (more if not in Auckland I think)?
Sound like if they can offer you a job then work permit to get out there soon +EOI for long term is a winner for you.

Edit: I did just think of something. If they aren't accredited employers, or no longer allowed to use that for recruiting, they may have to indicate that they tried to find NZ based candidates. Just another form for them to fill out.
My OH's employer filled one out for him just to remain hassle free (though I don't think they really needed to as occupation on LTSSL). If I recall it was information like how long position was advertised and other steps taken to find suitable NZ candidates and then signed by a few people in the company.

thats what I thought. I can get a work permit while EOI is progressing even if INZ feel that the employer cant use their accredited status for WTR?

With Elaines points will you not be selected anyway?

Just a thought from me. If they are being told that the position could be filled by NZer's, you might want to check that this will not be the case if you apply for a work permit based on this job offer too. I think they still have to do a labour check, but I am happy to be corrected if this is the case.

I thought that too - I think if you're applying for a work permit and your potential employer is no longer accredited for banking roles then the work permit for that role won't be issued? Or am I missing something?

but I can still process a PR app and use the job offer points regardless right?

also.. elaine qualifies in a few weeks. can i put her on the eoi as already qualified and then change the dates on the ITA?

it appears that she can get 20 bonus points as a partner:

"Trade Qualifications
The City and Guilds Part One and Part Two Certificates named below, together with evidence of a completed apprenticeship registered with a recognised industry body, are assessed as occupying Level 3 of the Register and will therefore qualify for 50 points."

"SM17.1.1 Bonus points for a partner's recognised qualifications
Recognised qualifications held by the partner of a principal applicant qualify for 20 points.

It doesnt say however whether she needs work experience or how much to support the qualification, any ideas? where's Ian when you need him :D

Will she have to have her qualifications sent away to see if they are approved or recognised by NZQA?? If time is of the essence (I may be wrong but it sounds like you're itching to be here ASAP!) then this could slow you down as it doesn't seem to be the fastest thing in the world going by some of the threads on here :uhoh

I would not have thought that you would be able use the job offer points if the company is not accredited for your role, perhaps someone else knows for definite

not sure about the other part, sorry

I can still process a PR app and use the job offer points regardless right? This is thinking for when you're in NZ with the job under a work visa, right?

If your ITA is dated on or after the day when Elaine's qualification comes into force, again, I don't see why that shouldn't work (but I'm not NZIS :uhoh). You wouldn't be claiming anything untrue if you do it like that. You don't have to have work experience to have a qualification - that would make a nonsense of anybody landing their first job, straight out of training. As they don't mention work experience, imho you don't need to either. But like somebody else said, would the delay, waiting for her qualification to come through, be a problem?

You're presumably wanting to claim JUST the 20 for her as your partner, not the 50, as it's not your qualification?

where's Ian when you need him :DProbably having his dinner. I've only been here this long at this time in the morning because I was ill and insomniac.:wah

The NZ Level 4 qualification is only required from the main applicant? Because I thought that if you`d like to claim bonus points for spouse`s qual., it has to be at least Level 4.

elaines quali will be a city and guilds in hairdressing and it appears that no NZQA is required.
dusk - i thought that any job offer in line with my skilled migrant qualis would suffice?

my qualis have been pre assessed by nzqa and agreed by NZIS that they meet the 50 points criteria. Do I need a full assessment also?

Hi guys ...

Unfortunately without *** being allowed to use their accredited employer status, they would have to prove that they have advertised extensively (enough for NZIS), and haven't found a suitable kiwi for the position. Am going to see if IanW99 can chime in here (oi Ian, change your status on Messenger! :p ).

*swear words...* we'll have to come up with a plan. I am in touch with G and know one of his Branch *******s pretty well, who's also a Brit, so could ask them if you'd be comfortable with that. Let me know, you have my number!

thanks M.. hang fire for a min as they are checking it out and calling me as soon as they know.
copy of my reply:

Thanks G

I'm happy to talk anytime as I have started to leave the phone by my bed!

Just to give you an idea of my motivation, in the 48 hours I have been back (jet lagged also!) I have quit my job, had shippers in to arrange our container, arranged medicals, police checks, a rental agent is coming on Monday to arrange renting our house, arranged our cat shipping etc. I am waiting to resolve this before I book flights back over.

To reiterate from my end, all I need is the job offer formally from J, arrange a start date and i'll do the rest. I do not need the accreditation. As I've mentioned a couple of times, I am very keen to work with you and *** and hope we can get this sorted soon.

Speak soon

Neil

sorry, didn't mean to be the voice of doom there - as MSquared said its just that your potential employer would need to make more effort to prove you were required and they couldn't find a suitable NZ applicant for the role - so you could claim the points and fight it out with NZIS... it's just not as straightforward as it might have been without the accredited status.

update following the household convention:

Spoke to a CO who said the same as dusk (although the first line operator totally contradicted it)
So I need to find out if the employer could have filled the job with a kiwi. if they couldnt then its work visa tastic. if they could then i can submit eoi on 185 points with job offer as they have confirmed that the job offer can be any offer as long as it fits my general skills.

either way, we are planning to fly out on our wedding anniversary 22nd April (subject to change and me going in advance)
we have sorted our shippers, our cat, renting our house, medicals on the 23rd with results back in 24 hours, police checks going today and our finances so whatever happens we are new zealand bound! still jetlagged and proactive!

are we mental or are we moving the mountain to mohammed? either way we'll have no regrets!

Hey don't worry about the EOI right now, just get the offer etc and put in for a work permit. If you don't have the offer & contract and all that stuff yet, don't worry, just come over as visitors (do NOT have any paper evidence of your offer on you, otherwise NZIS could get iffy about it - this is what I had to do as I didn't get my job offer in time). Then get your collective arses over here and sock in the EOI after you have a day's work under your belt, as then you have "less than 12 months' work experience". My points shot up to 210 with one day's work experience here and we got the ITA 3 weeks later, so our police & health stuff were still valid.

Just my $0.02... ;)

If you want help with a place to stay when you first get here, I can recommend some places until you get a rental sorted out. That way you can explore the area we live in some, before you decide where to rent / buy. :D :D (yeah, I'm incorrigible!)
