The bank did a background check on me, didn't know they were doing it though. They had a full copy of my ITA so knew I'd kept my nose clean *polishes nails on lapel* :laugh

About 3 months after I'd started I was told, "well it all came back clear, so you can stay, lucky eh?" :laugh

Yep they did a credit check on me, too, but I also provided them with my printed credit checks from the US, which helped that along a bit.
