OK, who has used them?

1. Were you happy with the service?
2. Was it value for money (in your opinion)?
3. Would you recommend a friend to use them?
4. Thought they were rubbish!

We had an initial quote of £3463 for a sole use 20ft, just had a very nice man round to measure up properly and am awaiting an updated quote, see if I can get anything off! :hopeso

Be grateful for your opinions.

I didn't use any one yet, but we asked Crown in Holland for an estimate a while ago
and they said: 3,843.40 GBP for a 20ft sole use
that's without all those things as insurance, customs and all that.

Thing is, they first sent us the text of an email to someone else, now what would happen to our stuff if we'd use them?
Then a few weeks laters sent us another (unasked for) email with again info on costs and it was 4,290.35 GBP all of a sudden!

Their first estimate was already over another company's estimate of 3,569.60 GBP.
But the last one was even better : 3,397.88 GBP!

Still waiting for our stuff to arrive (24th April) but very happy with the service so far.

We didn't have much, just the contents of a 1 bed flat with no large pieces of furntiure and most companies said that there was not enough to warrant them coming out to give a quote, so could I just fill in a form and post it back. :? Crown were one of the few (2) companies that sent a chap round and was very professional.

When it came to moving day 2 guys turned up - 3rd had phoned in sick. About 1 hour later 3 more turned up as there had been a cancellation in the area. So now there are 7 of us in our 1 bed flat feeling VERY cosy. They were all incredibly efficient, but without being robots, and we felt they really looked after our stuff - even to the point of wrapping my already padded wakeboarding bags!

We've had contact from Crown over here now and everything has been dealt with (in my opinion) a very professional manner. We'll see when our stuff gets delivered!

So far, I would definitely recommend them. But maybe ask me again when we have had our stuff delivered!

We used to use Crown Relocations for all our international moves with my previous employer. All our expats where very satisfied with them, as they gave good service and hardly anything got ever broken. Compared to some other removal companies they were never the cheapest but we felt that their level of service made up for the extra costs.
We had expats that were relocated abroad with one company and then returned with Crown Relocations and they always commented how much better the move had been with Crown.

So I can highly recommend them and no I don't get a commission from them :P

I would recommend them. We only had 27 boxes and nothing very big but nothing was damaged and it was all wrapped very well. We didn't have any extra MAF charges to pay. You can track your shipment on line and they unpack for you or come back and take all of the packing materials away.

Did not want to start another thread on the forum regarding movers. But could anyone who is already in NZ comment or share their experience on the following movers, ie. Trans Allied, Planet and Horizon.

We have done two shipments with Crown now.

First one was the bulk of our household, but still not enough to need a container. At UK end all was fab. It took exactly 12 weeks by which time we were able to receive straight into our new home.

At this end the guys unpacking were more keen on getting out and on the way back to Auckland! One of them emptied boxes by just turning the box upside down! Although because of my predicament at the time I was unable to inspect the unpacking and only noticed what had gone on the day after. They did not unpack everything I had requested and a box was apparently missing! Which we claimed on insurance. Oh and 3 boxes of red wine mysteriously went missing!

Second shipment. Shipment of some items of furniture we left behind. Stuff from Eric's Dads house we left to store their and some new Ikea furniture that my parents bought to go on the shipment, along with some DVD's and Boots stuff. We are unpacking ourselves. Delivery etc was great, but we are currently missing some items I ordered from Boots to ship over. The mysterious thing here is that they did not pack all the items at our old house they took them to their warehouse to pack???? We seem to have everything else its just the box of Boots stuff that I am missing? I have an arrangment with the delivery guys for them to collect the packaging once we have finished unpacking!

Generally the service has been great. At UK end they work very hard and quickly (don't stand still or you'll be packed!). Prices have been competitive and they do bartar, they even agreed to wait and take payment for the second lot a few weeks later than originally agreed, so it would show on a later Credit card statement. It's just the missing items that concerns me.
