I've done a fair bit of searching but can't find a single furnished rental in New Zealand - do they exist? I've heard that it's possible to hire furniture but can't find anything in New Plymouth (where we are heading) but even if this were available i guess it would be costly?

I've tried estate agents websites, google searches etc....nothing.

We are now considering holiday rentals (we are planning a 6 month stay).

Can anyone help please?

Can't speak with any authority on NP but I have seen some part-furnished rentals in Welly. It's rare, I'll grant you, and it's usually only white-ware & maybe the odd cupboard, but they do exist.

Not the norm though, by any means.

Your best bet is to find a holiday home for the first few weeks. If you get here in winter, you will have no problem finding one I believe.
