We finally got our ITA. Next on the list of things to do are the medicals. Does anyone know how its done here in NZ? I know any GP will do but are appointments needed or can you just drop by any clinic anytime? How much do they cost?

I know its been asked and answered somewhere but I cant seem to find it when I searched for it.

Hope someone can help me.

Thanks.

Hi Chuchi

Here is a reply that I sent to Moorf

I had my medicals done at the Riccarton Clinic tel 03 343 3661

costs are

Dr fees 95
Xray 55
Bloods 15

You can do this in 2 visits and the doctors are familiar with the format required by NZIS. Blood, Xrays done in the same place, which was helpful

You need to have the medical/forms and also make an appointment with the Dr.
cheers

Abdul

Is that in dollars, sounds lots cheaper than here, talking of which does anyone know if there is somewhere local to Ipswich suffolk that do it cheap. I got a quote from Cambridge but they want about £450 all in for two adults and two children under 5.

To be honest mate, that doesn't sound too far off.

We paid £840 for 2 adults and 4 children. Two of the children were classed as adults by age so had to pay adult rate for them.

Adult rate = £160 each

We booked an appointment with the local doctor and asked for an immigration medical. Cost $100 each.

He sent us on to the blood test place $10 each and the X-Ray place $85 each.

Now I know that we are being ripped of as immigrants. Dave injured his foot and had 4 X-Rays and we were charged $25 - the one immigration X-Ray was $85 :?

Yes well it seems that all fees for emigrating are a bit ott, especially when they claim to really need people.

Thanks to those who replied. :clap

What actually happens during the medicals? We've had our medicals back home for our visas and we don't know if it will be any different from that we had in the Phils.

Will PM Nic too. What's Nic's username on ENZ?
