Maybe you can help out with these:
How does one go about getting police clearance here and how long does it take?
SARS - I understand that you need finalise matters with these guys if you are emigrating - again how long does it take?
Are there any ways of fast tracking these processes?
Thanks in advance

Hi
What is SARS?
Get all other documents in order so long....police clearance, work references, language certifications, qualifications etc.
I applied for my police clearance from London, do it well in advance takes a long time
Copied from a consulate site (phone them to make sure the info is up to date):
These applications should be forwarded directly to the South African Police in Pretoria and will be finalized within 6 to 8 weeks from the date they receive your application in Pretoria.
The application form or letter has to be accompanied by a full set of fingerprints obtainable from the applicant's closest police station and a fee of R51.00 either banker's draft or money order is acceptable, made payable to the South African Police Service.
The application can be sent to Inspector Erasmus or Sgt. Bunk via any courier at the
Criminal Record Center
South African Police Service
1st Floor, Sanlam Plaza West
271 Schoeman Street
Pretoria, South Africa 0001
Tel No. (012) 393-3712 to15
Fax: (012) 393-3718 or 19
It is important that the courier is prepaid for a round trip from wherever the documents are sent.
The SAPS has advised that although a completed application form for a police clearance certificate is preferable, it is not necessary for such document to be completed. Should an application form not be available, the applicant must provide the following detail in a letter:
Surname
Maiden name (if applicable, also specify in which surname the certificate has to be issued)
Given Names
Date of birth
Place of birth
South African ID number (if applicable)
Last residential address in South Africa
Last South African business'/employers' address
Telephone number of the above mentioned
Date
Signature
Mailing address in the country of application
Zip/postal code
Telephone number
Once the certificate has been issued, the Criminal Record Center will courier the certificate to the applicant (prepaid parcel).
