My husband and sister and I are looking at buying an existing B&B in NZ. We live in the US. What is the process we need to go through and which visa??
We have found one we are very interested in buying.

Thanks for any info you can give! Much appreciated! :)

hi Not knowing your work experience, age etc makes it very difficult to answer that question. Buying the B & B shouldn't be a problem providing the land area is under the amount allowed for non residents, the agents should be able to tell you that. Getting a visa or work permit to run it is best sorted by approaching the immigration dept. and asking their advice.

Hi there, you will probably want the Long Term Business Visa, thats how we got here, we bought a garden centre, but had looked at B&B and motels to start with, before deciding it was going to control our lives too much.
The key is writing a good business plan together with evidence of research done here in NZ with regards to competitors etc. It's a lot of paperwork but well worth it in the end.
Good luck with your application.
