...do you have to go out of the country and re-enter in order to activate the visas or not?

We got our blue stickers in UK and were told we had 12months to get to NZ to take up the permanent residency. However my parents applied to be sponsored here in NZ and got their stickers in Jan while they were here. My mother has just left to go back to UK (to sell house) and I was wondering if she needs to re enter in order to 'activate' those stickers...meanwhile my Dad is still here..does he need to go out and come back in to activate the PR...any ideas?

Thank you!

Don't know if any of this will help, we are living in chch on wtr visa's and are applying for PR in may and we don't have to leave NZ to re-enter,my friends here in chch have just been through the same process and they didn't have to leave either. Hope this is of help!

Thank you. So assume my folks are ok too.

Thanks for that.

I got my PR a few weeks ago and am in NZ. There's no difference in getting your blue stickers except that you're already here! I didn't have to leave the country or anything like that. I just got my passport back with blue stickers, took a copy for work and put it in a drawer!

Thanks for asking because now that we're here we're planning to get my husband's PR in the next year or so. He has a 2-year-work-permit but is the stay-at-home-parent while I'm studying fulltime.
