Hi guys,

Seeing as girlfriend has kids from marrige, when we apply, if kids decide to stay with there dad and want to come out in the future whats the procedure.

How long is a piece of string if you include them in your application it will cost! also have to activate visas etc in timeframe etc etc you will also need fathers permission to come should DD's change mind I suppose it will depend on DD, age etc

If they want to come out in the future then I assume they would need to go on the application anyway, otherwise I don't know if they'd be allowed to stay?? I'm sure someone more knowledgeable will know all the details. Things like court drawn-up custody agreements are taken into account, parental rights, and if they're old enough the childs views etc

I didn't need permission from DD's dad to move her with us to NZ.

It sounds as if you mean they're not intending to come with you now. If that's the case, you can just list them as members of the family (so it's on record officially that she has these children). Then, if the time comes when they want to make the move, your girlfriend can sponsor them in in the 'family' category. http://www.immigration.govt.nz/migrant/stream/live/familycategories.htm
