I took a car back from Oz years ago. Out of memory there is no duty if you have been out of the country for 1 year and owned the car for 6months+. You will need to get the car certified which usually involves getting rear fog lights and speedo in mph

Cheers for the info
I was able to speak to HM customs and they said the there was no dutie due as it was my vehicle and i had owned it for more than 12 months .
As the car is the same model as the one that is sold in the uk it is already for the road (except for the speedo ) which if I get fitted in the uk will cost up to £900, but in nz it will cost $900 .
So always check on the price in both country's first.:exit

Getting a sticker in mph made up for the front of the speedo would probably cost less than $10...

But is actually not technically totally allowed. Bit of a grey area, and I have had no issues getting car MOT'd and on the road with just the stickers, but I think if you are really accurate about this, you need a new speedo.
