If everything works out we should have sold our House end of May, we plan to rent a small furnished place till end of August do a bit of travelling to see friends & family in September and move in October.

So would be looking to have our stuff in storage for 3-4 months prior to shipping.

Our container arrived in February and our moving company is storing it on their lot (near Chch) for $500 per month. We were able to access some of our stuff when it first came in- and are going back next week to get out some winter clothes, bikes and a few other things. They charge us $40 per hour for time spent getting into our container- reloading boxes, etc. The NZ movers had to unload the stuff from the orginal container when it arrived (since the moving company on the U.S. side needed it back)- to one of their own containers. We inspected the new container and it seemed fine- no leaks, etc. so I'm hoping everything looks ok when we check on it next week.

We're in Auckland and have been storing the contents of our 40' container since mid-Feb. Crown charge $92 per week. The insurance we had allows for 2 months storage, so we'll have to buy more insurance shortly.

Depending on which shipper you use, some let you store the container in the UK for 4 weeks free of charge, others will let you if you negotiate. I was told it was more expensive to store in NZ than in the UK.....
