Hello all,
can anyone please offer some advice on the best way to get a mobile phone number for my stay in Christchurch later this month?

gave some good information in another thread:
On a slightly different subject one of the internet cafe's in Cathederal square also sells phone cards and mobile phone sims. I'd recommend getting some phone cards when you are there for calling home. I got one with 200 mins to the UK for $10. A vodaphone sim is also a good investment if you are job hunting. They are around $35 and come with $15 of free calls.
The problem is I'd REALLY like to have a contact number now, so I can include it on some prospective letters I'm about to send (I want to try and line up some interviews for when I'm over there to make the most of my time available). I have a mobile here in the UK, but roaming charges would be expensive. I think the best way will be buying a New Zealand PAYG card.
Thanks,
John.
