We are moving to Palmerston North in July (flights booked etc) we have PR status and are very excited... :clap However, as much research as we have done on the net, we would be grateful if anyone out there has been to Palmy, and knows which areas are best, any experience of the primary school system. We have a 6, 4 and 2 year old..... :eek
Thanks, :cool

Hi Vicky,
It is nice to know that you are going to live in Palmy. Just like ourselves, we will be making the big move to Palmy sometime in Oct this year. We will be going there in May to look for schools for our little boy and do some other research like getting a house, opening a bank account, get a driver licence, etc before going there permanently in Oct.
I have lived in Palmy for 4 years (1988-1991) and I guess the best areas for schools are the ones in the Hokowhitu area, that is near Massey University. Most of the schools there are in decile 10. I am trying to get my son either into Hokowhitu School or College Street Normal School as recommended by friends living in Palmy.
Regards.
Vincent

My husband is a past pupil of Hokowhitu school - he turned out OK :laugh
He then went on to Palmerston North Boys Grammar School - we read some of his old school reports a while ago ....... it's my betting they we happy to see him leave :eek
All the best.
