WooHoo!!!:clap:clap

He emailed asking for more relationship proof. DOH!

We emailed him bank statements that we can download from the banks website. Hopefully that will be enough... we sent him 7 months spanning from April 2008 - April 2009.

We're gettin there!!

You're lucky thats all you may have to give them.

I got PR based on a "de-facto" relationship, except the flat, mortgage, council tax and all the bills were only in my name. We never even had a joint bank account until we got to NZ. We ended up sending Christmas cards that had both our names on them, photos of us both on holiday (except there was usually only one of us in the photo at a time!), flight tickets for previous trips, signed statements from our friends...

It made quite a package - but we got there in the end :D

haha... the only thing we had in both our name WAS the bank account! All the bills were in my name only... and most with my maiden name still! That's been a pain here! My passport has my maiden name... but my DL has my married name... ugh!

It's about time, you seem to of been waiting ages. We had the same request and also sent them the on-line bank statements and they sent them back saying they could not accept them as they were printed off the website and not original statements!!! Isn't that the idea of on-line bank statements - it was a pain, we sent a water bill in the end!

We were wondering about proof of relationship as we have nothing in joint names.

We were hoping that our 7month old son would be proof enough for them. lol

Mrs Pony

ugh! We haven't heard anything back yet... Wouldn't it be the same thing if we printed them up vs NZIS printing them... Or do they want them in the actual bank envelopes!?

What other things are good to send?

eh.. why not anther speed bump... seems we can't miss them! :wah

They wanted all originals from us (or certified copies of course). 30 dollars for 5 business days economy courier, 42 for express (3 bus days).... you'll get used to filling out those forms (The people at my doctor and at the closest Post Shop know me by sight and ask how the application is getting on...)
You might also try sending copies of pictures of you two in places (digital prints aren't too costly) with notes on where/when, certified copies of the inside of your passports showing travel together, rental agreements, utility agreements etc etc. We got a letter from our bank stating how long the account had been joint rather than actual statements. I never changed my name (lazy!) and that hasn't been an issue.

We're married 6 years and they wanted EVERYTHING, wedding certificates photos of us before we where married and letters to confirm we where a couple including sons birth certificate, bank statements and bill going way back including tax credit letter :uhoh
So yes your lucky.:nice1

Good Luck

We sent in photos of ourselves, joint bank account statements, utilities in his and my names (separately) to the same address (or at one address mail to him from the uni to the address and the utilities in my name), pictures of us together (dated), wedding certificate, I almost sent in AIM chats that I had printed up from when we first started dating, but I held back. I also sent in rental agreements in both our names...

I sent them a huge book of things, and they seemed perfectly happy with our relationship. =D

Thanks for all the tips!! We still haven't heard anything yet... So we shall see!

I've made a folder of 10 pictures to print... if we need it... There is one from 2004 then the rest are all from 2007 to now...

How about flight tickets from your last trip to New Zealand?
Bills in joint names
Christmas cards/post cards addressed to the two of you
and if it comes to it, a letter of confirmation of your situation written by a "professional" person e.g. family doctor, family lawyer(?) etc who has known you both

We have our shipment coming soon... so maybe we will have some things in there too... I'm not sure... We might have to do some digging if we need to send more things in.

When my son was immigrating with his Kiwi wife, we were asked to write a letter with an account of our daughter-in-law - how we came to know her in the first place at the beginning of their relationship, their wedding, occasions she'd been involved with with the family, personal details about her - all intended to show that theirs is a genuine marriage, not just a marriage-of-convenience to get him residency. A family friend did the same for her. Then, my d-i-l's father and a family friend of theirs did the same for our son.

Congratulation on the CO!!! :clap :nice1
I'm so glad for you because this means NZIS keeps its promised terms of 4 month waiting period. That simply means it's going to be my turn soon :)

Interesting, so I guess a marriage license/certificate is not enough? Good to know! Guess I'll need to get a few things together so we have more evidence should they need it.

Congrats on getting an officer!!! Hope everything else goes smoothly!

our kids birth certificates with both our names on them wasn't sufficient.

It's nonsense when non-official documents like photoes or postcards are more valuable than certificats

Weird! What things would you suggest I put together?

Didn't mean to hijack your thread Mrs. Pony, sorry!! Any thoughts on how much longer it may be? How long has your application taken so far?

I think what they're looking for is evidence of a genuine stable relationship and not just a "marriage of convenience" as JandM said.

We sent in records showing we'd bought and sold a house together, rental agreements, a utility bill, insurance cards showing both our names (expired though), a letter from the bank stating the length of joint tenancy and all they asked for from us was our marriage certificate (I think it must have said husband/wife on the house buying documents, I can't figure out how else they knew to ask) :roll

well OH is still sleeping so I don't know if he's got an email from NZIS yet. We didn't hear anything yesterday... I'm hoping that the online statements will be ok... I mean it's the exact same thing that they would mail to us you can just download them from the website.

Now if only we could get jobs!! :uhoh

PonyGirl

Mrs Pony

Welp... I have an interview on the 27th... and I really think I would enjoy it!

Went to one Temp Agency....

Nothing else.. we've been checking Seek daily and have submitted our CV to multiple places...

OH is still waiting to hear from Park Road and/or Weta... He did get an email from a Weta guy and was told that they don't hire Audio Engineers and to try Park Road... but the position was for an Inventory job so... We're not sure what happened there... ha I applied for it too but I haven't heard anything either...
