I imagine both pretty nerve-racking but considering I belong in the second category and consequently am a nervous wreck....I vote for that one!:)

WHV... with no job... and no PR...

Depend on where you come from.
If you come from UK, WHV gives you 23 months staying in NZ.
If you come from USA, WHV gives you 12 months staying in NZ
However, for WTR, it is 9 months.
WHV... with no job... and no PR...

6 months+ into 1 year work permit, OH with job, waiting on PR or MA denial...I try not to think about it really. :(
At some point it becomes a branching tree of contingency plans.

Job offer...... but waiting for the MA to FINALLY give the ok and get the PR in time was sooooo nerve racking!!
It all came good in the end though! (just!)

i think it depends on the situation, some people with medical issues will find not having PR to be the nail bitter, people with less money behind them will probably find no job offer to be much bigger issue.
Personally its no job offer for me as i know that there is highly unlikely to be any issues with PR

In NZ with PR but not finding a job!!!!! :wah
Back home without PR seemed nerve wrecking but wasn't really, with the benefit of hindsight. Funds will run out eventually if nobody gives us a chance. That carboard box I have been joking about, it could become a reality.... Plenty of vacancies but so many others to compete with (kiwis, english, american, south african, people half my age ....). Fair go ...???

We have PR and no job offer yet. We are coming out regardless.
I would imagine it would be more stressful the other way round if you have given everthing up and are in NZ, with a great job and great lifestyle and then you are told you may have to go home because they wont give you PR.
I'd say no PR and job offer would be way worse!

Well, what's the worst that could happen? Apart from having to come home after 6 months..

The whole thing is nerve wracking. From start to finish (of which I'm yet to arrive at). I've got it in my head that I'm going and I've been on tender hooks since just in case they don't let me go!

Well, spending all my parents savings getting over there with my stuff and then having to find a ton of money to return to no job/house etc. eek!

You can actually extend it to 9 months if you want.

Ditto for me - I'm already getting slightly edgy about the possibility of not having work, and we're not likely to get a CO for two and a half months! I just keep remembering the struggle that OH and I had when he was unemployed for 9 months - I don't think I could cope going through that again, particularly watching any resources that we do have (which we want to use for buying a house) dwindle away...
