We're currently pricing up the cost of a kitchen benchtop for our proposed house plan and are hoping for some recommendations :)

We are mostly going with freestanding units, but will have a fitted island bench aprox 3600mm by 900mm and are hoping to be able to afford either solid wood or granite benchtop, with holes cut out for butler sink and taps.

So......has anyone carried out any recent kitchen renovations and be willing to give ball park cost figures, or does anyone in Christchurch area have any local reccomendations or contacts that may be useful to us?

We had our kitchen re-done a couple of years ago - I'll grab the quote and give you details tomorrow. We had granite tops - not cheap but we're very happy with them (we always used to have wood).

I can highly recommend some joiners - Harvey & Stigley in Christchurch - who can custom-make anything you need. They will also arrange and oversee the benchtop manufacture on your behalf with granite (or other) suppliers.
