I submitted my ITA last week and dropped in a mail to the coordinator who was my frist point of contact and let know to acknowledge once my application has been received.

I have heard nothing from them.

What is the experience people on this forum have after submitting ITA.
- Do we just enter a "wait mode" till we hear from them?
- Is everything alright with my application?
- Whats going on there?
- Is it normal to not hear from them at all?
- Am i just too anxious?

Anyways, i was just looking for an acknowledgement of receipt of my application just to ensure they got it before the 4 month deadline that was given to me.

Appreciate any insights from you all.

Regards,
Sidharth

You will receive a letter from Immigration stating that they have received it etc etc. I received my letter around 2 weeks after I submitted my ITA

Thanks guys...

- What is the general content of their letter?
- Do they assign a CO already at that point?
- Any action items from us once we receive their letter?

Much appreciated for all your insight :)

-it will most likely be a standard letter, with your application number at the top ;)
-possibly, but this letter won't tell you that - your application will go to a CO in processed order, so essentially you get stacked in a big pile and get a CO when you reach the top of the pile
-no, the only action required will be if your CO needs more information, in which case they will contact you, or if you require an interview - again your CO will contact you if this is the case

Hi there,

Congrats on getting your ITA in, that is a big hurdle to jump. :nice1 Welcome to the waiting game....again. LOL

Without a job offer, it takes at least 3 months or perhaps longer to be assigned a case officer. For some reason, our letter of acknowledgement took like a month to arrive in our mailbox after we lodged our ITA. It basically says, "thanks for sending your ITA, don't make any irreversable travel arrangements to NZ, without a job offer, allocation of a visa officer can take up to four months..." and so forth. Nothing too gripping. :laugh But it only took a few days after our ITA was lodged for our status to change on the NZIS website. It changes from "Decision Successful" to "Application Received."

You will be contacted in the future if there are any issues with your ITA (more info, clarification, etc). If not, your case officer will schedule an interview, once that is done, they will decide whether you get PR, WTR (work to residence visa) or declined. As far what you can do in the meantime, depends on your situation. Clean, sell stuff, throw stuff out, if needed, find your pets a new home, pack....

Good luck! :nice1

if you submitted your EOI on-line you can check the website - our status changed to 'application received' so we knew they had it.

but yip - LOADS of waiting. we don't have a job offer and it's been OVER 4 MONTHS and finally heard yesterday we have a Case Officer, but she hasn't finished assessing our case yet so more waiting.

waiting is definately the new fashion for people applying for residency!
you will go through various stages of despair, desperation and tantrums and even feel like a toddler at times or veruca salt from charlie and the chocolate factory! Yes, foot stamping is ok!!

sometimes it is "no news is good news", but at the time it all seems a tinsy bit cruel.

Thanks all for your posts

I got a reply from the office but rather an unexpected one.

They say it will take 12 months to assign a case officer. I am a bit surprised with the timeframe. Isent that too long by any standard?

John McEnroe would have said - You cannot be serious! :)

I understand your feelings, but when you're dealing with a huge official machine like NZIS, there IS no standard. They do what they're going to do, in the order that they do it, and this isn't affected by the feelings of the people whose files they're processing. Waiting times do seem to have stretched over this last year, presumably because of a larger number of applications, so this '12 months' isn't just in your case. (Other people have short-circuited the process by obtaining a job offer, sometimes by going to NZ and getting interviews while on a visitor's visa.)

Thanks JandM

I tried to reach NZ last year in Nov to get the job thing going. Unfortunately, INZ could not give me a visit visa in time.

Result:-
1. I could not reach NZ
2. My accumulated leaves for the year 2008 expired. I have a valid visit visa now but no leaves :-!

Im still going to try to speak to people there and if possible visit NZ on the slim leaves i have to make it work.

No choice!

We are on the wait too..but hvae been advised by London that it will only take about 4 months. But it is difficult trying to keep a normal life going as well as thinking about the future as well.

Good Luck
