I've noticed that the meat here in NZ has "real" fat on it and not that awful inch of fat wrapped round joints etc in the UK! :nice1 And I have to say I think the meat here is gorgeous.
Plus, the veggies last longer - wonder if that's due to shorter times between being picked and at the shop? Have noticed too that the veggies/fruit isn't as well "sorted" - i.e you sometimes have to pick through the veggie tray to ensure you get the unbruised ones.

And isn't it great to have seasons for things in NZ?
Call me old fashioned (!) but I actually perfer not having everything in the shops 365 days a year (at a price).
Somehow the veggies taste better knowing that a) they've been grown reasonably locally and b) they haven't contributed to world pollution by being air freighted in from Columbia or Zimbabwe or wherever just so that you can eat the same things regardless of whether it's snowing or 35 degrees outside.

amuses me in the supermarkets here that they have , say cauliflowers @ $1.89 and they are totally different sizes. one may be a bit bigger than a cricket ball but the one next to it is football sized. they are not standardised like they are at home, but they will all be the same price.

Yeah, I've been getting real fat on meat too.
Must be the portion sizes. Or all that extra gravity down here

In all seriousness, I guess it's amazing what you get used too. The size of the fruit (especially the bananas) was a absolute shock to me. I know this sounds quite funny, but it really, really was.

The fruit here is fantastic - I agree.
I had a bag of Orange Pippin apples a few weeks ago that were to die for....... non now to be had till next season.
But......ahhhhh so worth the wait.
We buy all different sizes of bananas for different purposes.
My 6 year old likes the "Bobby Bananas" in her lunch box but one of them wouldn't even touch the sides with my 15 year old.
So we buy the whoppers for the boys.....and they ALL taste awesome.
I love having lemons in my garden too.........SO useful!!!!!!!! ;)
