1. Can I come to NZ using visitor visa and search job
2. If I want to stay here for two months which accommodation is cheaper, (hotels, flats, ..), where can I find the cheap accommodation?
3. how much NZ dollars do I need to bring in, basically how much do I need per month for living cost
4. do I need to inform the job search agencies before I come to NZ or can I see them in person without appointment
5. which city is better for IT jobs

1. You need a work visa/ permit to work in New Zealand. You can enter with a holiday visa but if you are planning to work you need one of the above.

2. Speaking from experience I would say renting a flat apartment will be cheaper. Hotels could cost you +/- $300 a night and motels $100 per night.

3. You should budget to allow for at least three months before you find suitable employment. However, the more funds you have, the more time you have to find a job that’s right for you. Depending on the size of your family, and where you choose to live, a weekly budget of around $NZ900 - $NZ1,000 (over three months) should be sufficient.

4. No you do not need to inform any agency.

5. It depends on where you will find a job.

depending on what time of year you are coming will make a difference to what kind of accomodation will be cheapest - if you're coming over in off season and planning on staying ine one place for longish periods of time then you might want to book a bach, as you will be able to haggle them down to a cheaper rate (same is probably true of motels too)

one of the major cities is going to offer you the widest range of opportunities, but if you are open to living where the owrk is this will help in your job search.

you don't NEED to let agencies know beforehand, but if you can give them notice that you will be around in a given time frame and let them know you are ready to look for work and send them your CV/resume in advance this might be helpful.

Also if you're planning on coming in without a work visa it will help to at least show you have everything you need to submit an application ASAP :)

Hi,

well u cannot work on a visitors visa....if you are a british citizen its a good idea to get holiday work permit and search for jobs...
as for accomodation look on www.trademe.co.nz
u will find heaps of options for flatmates wanted...you can rent a room in an apartment with others for couple of months...or if you want to rent a whole apartment by yourself then also it will turn out to be cheaper than hotels or motels.

yes, its a good idea to search for jobs before coming to NZ...look on
www.seek.co.nz
www.trademe.co.nz
also check out recruitment agents like hudson, kelly services...etc...but as far as i know they forward your CV if you have PR or at least a work permit.
As for cost of living I think its safe to go with 1000 NZD per month if you will be sharing an apartment.

hope this helps! :)
All the best!! :nice1

Specifically in response to your question 1, yes you can come to NZ on a visitor visa and look for a job while you're here. Even though you'll probably need to return home and get a work visa or permanent resident visa before starting any job you are offered, coming here to interview personally usually increases your odds of getting a job offer tremendously.

1. yes u can but to start a job u need a JOB OFFER then need to apply for a work permit..

2. Flatting is the cheapest, u have to go through local newspapers for ads abt FLATMATE WANTED, backpackers is the second best option, they will cut u a deal if u stay for 2months.

3. i would say for accommodation, food and minor expenses 300bucks/week is enough

4. jobs search agencies are not that good, but u can try ur luck with them, better sent ur CV to them be4 coming to NZ, i have replied another thread about job sites in NZ, u may wanna have a look at it.

5. pretty much the big cities, like auckland, christchurch, wellington, hamilton, BUT try to AVOID DUNEDIN its already filled with well qualified unemployed otago university graduates.....
