new to the forum but certainly found some very useful information and opinions in here so far. Can anyone recommend for me a good place/places to start looking for IT employment from this side of the world. I figured I wouldn't be able to find work until i was in situ down there but have seen a few success stories in these forums so figured it couldn't hurt looking

Not sure what field of IT you are in, but you might find the following site of interest too:

Canterbury Software Cluster (http://canterburysoftware.org.nz) also has a RealContacts directory, we'd be happy to add you to our network of contacts if you wish, it will give you access to many jobs that you couldn't access without building up lots of contacts. The vacancies will be Christchurch based so no good if you are heading up north. It's worked for a few on this forum so far :nice1

I got my job, by looking at the Auckalnd Yellow Pages online, and just sending out cvs by e-mail

Hi there, I found a job for my husband in the Dominion Post jobs section. He applied for two jobs advertised there and was offered one. It was through Candle Recruitment: Check out the paper - http://www.stuff.co.nz/stuff/0,2106,0a6000,00.htmlent
Be aware though that most companies will not take much notice of you until you have a definate date to arrive. Many have been let down by people who do not arrive in NZ.
