We are hiring a camper van for our first 2 weeks when we arrive, but will need to buy a car when we drop off the van in Auckland, can anyone reccommend a dealer, I thought about Trade Me, but we don't have an account with them, to be able to get details from sellers.
Thanks

How much are you looking to spend and any particular make / model?

You could check out Auckland Car Fair (http://www.carfair.co.nz/) if you want some cheap run-around.

If you can't use Trademe, then try on Auto Trader (http://www.autotrader.co.nz/) instead.

I thought I needed to have a NZ address to register with Trade Me?
I've looked on the two sites Ian, thanks, I'll show Karl tonight when he gets home

Good tip Laurie, you also need a .com e-mail adress to do this.

All the dealers are on Trade me, and depending on where you are going there is generally one big area worth all the dealers. When you get round to buying remember to haggle, you bargain for everything here, great fun. We bought our car off trade me from a private seller and got $4k off a $28k car. Dealers were willing to do similar drop plus 1 yr warranty etc.

Good Luck

We bought one of our cars from Ellerselie car fair and the other one from Turners Car Auctions.
Great results from both and we still have our cars almost 4 years on!
