We are still waiting for our ITA but reading on the Immigration website, does anyone think we would be silly to apply for our police checks and medicals now, to avoid any delays or should we wait for the ITA to come?

Thanks

I would wait as both the police check and medical are only valid for a specific time period and you may have to re do them.

Do the meds and police checks have a year's validity still?

I think meds are only valid for 3 months (am I wrong???) and police checks valid for 6 months I think.

It doesn't matter if you submit your meds and then they run out (at least that's what happened to us). We submitted our meds in December and the 3 month validity ran out in March but we only got our interview etc in May and they never asked us for more meds.

The meds have to be no more than three months old when you submit them. Once submitted, they're good for up to two years while the application is being processed. http://www.emigratenz.org/forum/showthread.php?p=297645&highlight=medicals#post297645 I don't know about the police checks - the system has changed since my son did his.

If all of the rest of your ITA paperwork is ready to go and you're eager to send it back ASAP after receiving, I'd say apply for the police checks and medicals, as they can take a few weeks.
IMO:)

I can see you live in the UK. Policechecks take a maximum of 10 working days and medicals can usually be arranged within a similar time peiod. If I were you I would wait until I would get the ITA. You can get everything else ready though :) If you need relationship evidence or work experience evidence, start collecting now, they are notoriously picky about those!

Hey there,

For me and hubby, we waited until we knew we received a "Decision Successful." The medical is only good for 3 months and the police checks are good for 6 months. However, it is a good idea to get your relationship evidence, work references, and proof of qualifications (transcripts, degrees, certificates, etc) together as I have seen folks here run into snags with putting this stuff together.

Good luck! :nice1

as for the medicals, if either of you are a bit overweight, start dieting now to get under the waist / BMI requirements!

Thanks everyone, I have got certificates etc certified already and My weight has gone down a bit so I am within the guidelines so thats good.

We are just so desperate to move we are living with my mum and step dad at the moment, which is getting us all down.
Obviously we are all used to our own routines, but we are all walking around on eggshells at the moment so as not to rock the apple cart.

Kids get away with murder here and my mum cant say no to them, but if I do tell them off they go straight to my mum.

We all miss our own space and I and my husband are arguing a lot just over silly stuff, It is really making me feel dreadful.

Before we sold our house we were due to change mortgages so we would be paying £480 a month less on our mortgage which was amazing, but then we recieved an offer and accepted that offer.
But now hubby is gutted that we could have been paying £225 a month in our own home whilst saving for New Zealand. He keeps saying "if only" which really upsets me because waiting for the process is unbareable and We are all really struggling:wah

Sorry for the moan but just so depressed at the moment and don't know what to do?

Sorry to hear that...
sounds like you have the 'in limbo' feeling, neither one thing or the other and it creates pressure and stress on all.
If you didn't take that offer who knows when it would have sold?
Can you and OH get out for some quality time together. Have a bit of a break maybe.
have a (((((()))))) too
