Primary school teacher training

Hi, just wondering what are the options available to train to become a primary school teacher? I have an Honours Degree in General Nursing and have been nursing for the past two years but I am looking for a career change. In Ireland (where I am from) and in England there are means of achieving a PGDE (post graduate diploma in education) for those who have a degree and want to become primary teachers in a year. Is this available in NZ and if so are overseas applicants invited?

Most Uni's offer a one year post grad course for either primnary or secondary training. International students accepted but fees alot higher. Need to apply in AUg/Sept for nest Jan start.
