:clapAnother flights booked thread!
Whew! Feels weird. Totally committed now.
We fly Air NZ on 8th August so 10 weeks to go.
Bet those 10 weeks will just FLY by. In that time we have to book shippers, rent house, sell cars, sell other stuff and cancel our WHOLE lives here.
We are going to New Zealand (pinch!)

Hi, Congratulations - we are in the same boat and plan to go that week, was Air NZ the best deal?
House sold - moving out 22/6 - container booked. Moving in with family,
finishing work on 31/7, plan a few days in London to see the sights and travel sometime that week, just looking for a good deal on the flight.
we are 2 adults and 2 children
Thanks

get those scissors sharpened because it's all about cutting ties from now on!
feel like Jason Bourne, soon we won't exist!
we are flying emirates on 9/8 we wanted to go on the airbus 380 3 adults (one child 12 counts as an adult-how does that work then!!) and 1 child, one way came in at £2800. not sure how that compares to other companies but we wanted to fly emirates 380 anyway.

Hi
for us, Air NZ was the best deal one way. We tried Emirates which came in close. but decided to go Air NZ because the timings were better for us. Because we are going to Invercargill though, it does mean 3 stops (Hong Kong, Auckland then Christchurch) - it's going to be one hell of a day!!!
We were 2 adults and one child (£2200)
Good luck with the search!

We have just had buyer round to sort out moving dates and are hoping to fly out Air New Zealand on the 28th of August - we are having a stopover in LA £2180 for 2 adults and a child. Just deciding whether to book now or wait a while in case any problems selling the house.

Hi
yes, we had worries too about not getting things sorted in time but we booked via the Air NZ website and I'm pretty sure it said something about cancellations or changes (with an admin fee) - so hopefully we get to fly out on time but should something happen, we can change the tickets!
Just read the small print because before we went to the Air NZ website we were about to book via Expedia website and then I noticed that they said no changes/refunds etc - which totally made me panic, so went to the Air NZ website and made sure could change ticket.

We ended up going via Singapore and Sydney because we had promised ourselves we would do a stop-off for a few days in each. The twice we have been to NZ already we came via LA first time (NEVER AGAIN) and via KL the second time (much better). The moment you are sitting actually booking a ONE WAY flight feels really weird, final almost.
We are also having to work on a bog-standard 23kg weight limit - that'll be interesting!

Hi there
Just to say that I checked Singapore Airlines because of your post 3fromSA. Just wanted to make sure we didn't pay too much! but from London HR it was £300 more expensive. So feeling ok about our flights with Air NZ - except for the baggage allowance - am quite jealous of that!!! We phoned Air NZ and they confirmed no extra allowance via Hong Kong - bummer!!!!
Guess we'll have to ship over everything and make do with our 20kg each (at least my son of 3 years old has 20kg too so in total we have 60kg)

Anyone who hasn't booked yet but is going to go with Air NZ, don't forget to use the move2nz promo code online!
2 adults & 2 children one way via LA (46kg luggage each plus 7kg each carry on, children included) cost us around £1400.
We came in through Christchurch and took a domestic flight to Nelson the next day - when we explained the reason for having 8 cases, 4 small cases, a buggy, 2 car seats and a tarp-wrapped-outsized-extra-stuff-package, the AirNZ person checked the lot in and waived all the excess/overweight baggage charges. Superb service :)
edit: JK&A, check that again with AirNZ. We were told they would double the baggage allowance for one way flights via Hong Kong as we were emigrating. Ultimately we went via LA because we needed the extra 6kg each!

ah sorry JK&A perhaps its specific to SA travellers then. but definitely reconfirm the baggage allowance because of your PR - our agent at singapore airlines said we could only do the standard 20kg - but i wouldnt accept that so ended up finally writing to head office who confirmed it in writing so now we get 40kg each yay!! and can also take LO car seat on free of charge (in the hold) then he still gets the 10kg baggage allowance too
