Hi. As expected we got invited for WTR (deferred PR) but we have a few things we are rather worried about.
First. This WTR Visa means that we MUST find employment based on what we applied on, correct? Example primary applicant (OH) apply as skilled migrant as I.T. System Analyst so the employment must be as a System Analyst and have to be employed 3 months before NZIS will consider transferring it to PR. Are we correct on this?
Given the fact that the economy is not at the best at the moment, this can be quite a challenge.
Secondly and this is a big one. On the same day we received our invitation of WTR, my OH told me that she is pregnant. But based on this thread

Are our plan to move to NZ is in jeopardy? Really a bitter sweet moment :o ....

Oh, good heavens, what a mixed moment for you both! Somebody who's studied all the detail will no doubt be along to comment. Congratulations and commiserations as appropriate. :clap ((()))

Oh Geez! echo previous post - congratulations!
i think it depends on what your WTR visa states. I vaguely remember someone posting before that they could work in ANY skilled employment with the WTR visa (as long as it was classed as skilled). Do a search for WTR on the forum and I'm sure some answers will come up.
Yes, to be honest I was also worried about that pregnancy thing because (although we have PR) we are planning on another baby in the next year or so. Very worrying!! Not sure what can be done about it. Hopefully someone will be able to advise.

When we did the WTR with defered PR, I had to work in the skill I had applied under (sparks) for 3 months.
As for pregnancy, I think that partners of NZ Citizens and also persons with Permanent Residence are ok.
Also from what has been reported, certain types of WTR are also ok.
But can't find anywhere it states the hard facts.:no
Nick.:cheers

First of all congratulations to your WTR :clap
I had the same questions on "Skilled Employment" definition and I asked my C.O. of the mean the Appendix 11 of the following pdf
http://www.immigration.govt.nz/NR/rdonlyres/EDE93E50-160B-4732-8713-2181A340F91F/0/Appendices.pdf
He said yes on this.
Second, congratulations you are going to be a father.:bluebanana
You read that link on NZHerald right?

I think the above link is an update.
Also, I found the follow link from Radio New Zealand:
http://www.radionz.co.nz/news/stories/2009/06/02/1245b5351c56
Immigration New Zealand says it is standard policy to deny temporary visas to people who may be a burden on the country's health service.
I had some discussion on other members here on other thread. You can search on "Health, Education and Family" section of this forum.
I know it will bring you some sleepless nights. If you employed migration consultant, discuss the issue with them. If not, you seek advise with the ppl here. But you may need to disclose your wife pregnancy. They may consider as material changes.

Thank you all. This is our first born and we really would like her to have the best start possible. After all, wife is certain that she is '100% Made in NZ' during our recce trip last month. :D
I checked a couple things earlier this morning with NZIS @ NZ and someone might find it useful for future reference.
We both got invited for Skill Migrant's WTR Visa. We do not have to arrive at the same time. I can arrive at NZ first (secondary applicant) to get things arranged and she can arrive later as long as it is within the 3 months period after the issue of the WTR Visa.
NZIS ON THE PHONE cannot confirm if wife will be allowed to enter the country if she is already pregnant or asked to leave after getting pregnant during the 9 months looking for work. As far as she know, that shouldn't be an issue as long as the visa is legal and valid. I'll take this with a grain of salt for now. Will update once I get the official word.

Just a question, do the WTR>PR require minimum income? 45k annum at least?

I was told that salary much not less than industrial/market rate. information on the rate can be found on careers.govt.nz
But i am not sure when does those salary figures were measured. it does not seem like a good comparison between the salary in recession with the salary in good time.

To my knowledge there are (at least?) two types of WTR. There is the WTR that does have a salary requirement (55k if I recall) and may be used by people who do not have enough points to qualify for the skilled migrant category. This one requires work at a job (or in that field) for 2 years or more (I believe up to 30 months) before being eligible to apply for PR.
The second type of WTR is the one offered to people who applied via the skilled migrant category, have no job offer, and their case officers may feel they will have difficulties adjusting or settling. This one (to my knowledge) has no stated income requirement (though afaik does require the work to be skilled). In the second one you have a set amount of time to find a job. After you have been in the job for a period of time your WTR is converted to PR.
NZIS site is being really weird for me or I'd provide the informational links. :(
