We sent for our visas last week only to have them returned to us on thursday saying 'The current x-ray cert can not be accepted as they are out of date and do not follow current policy' ?????

Having recieved the envelope we should have cracked open the bubbly then seen this!

My delightful S-in-L had taken in the package earlier that day and only sent it round to us at 4.45pm!!!! :eek :eek

I called the no. given and guess what? She had gone home. We were frantic to say the least. What the hell did it mean? Never the less we had a frightful evening and can say I have never been gut wrenched as bad in all my life.

I got up the day after and called her, left a message asking her to call me asap.

When she called back she said ' They were still accepting the old forms aswell as the new ones, even though the new medical examination guidelines had been abolished, our certificates were OLDER than either of these two!!!!

She said that it was the medical centres fault and we should get all info transferred onto new forms. Hey presto!
When I called the med centre and explained this, she started to defend their corner and begin to ring out the charges that we were about to be ladened with. She got qiute stroppy with me saying we had let the forms expire.
To cut a long story short. They HAVE used a more out-dated form. We have to now go back (1hr 20m journey) on Tuseday to fill in new forms which will be sent off and returned to us on 20th, when we can send of for our visa!! No extra charge apart from our nerves.

Hence not going now till at least 1st or 2nd week in May?? Who knows now, we are in the hands of the gods with people who have no sense of urgency like we have.

I think we have now got a curse over us.

Quite stressfull

Sorry to hear that Jan, it's the last thing you want to be faffing about with. What a pain in the bum :?

This is my big fear. We have used the new forms, not the new new forms, but the forms which were for the new regs which they have delayed. I'm just waiting for some kind of prob with them.

Jeeze ... that's c**p news.

How bad do I feel .... I recommended that clinic to you !!!

I know it's a pain in the arse and all seems to have turned to custard, but just look upon it as a 'delay'. You know all will be OK once they have the new forms, it's not actually going to go against you - just means that your departure will be a couple of weeks later than anticipated.

Easy for me to say though, I think I'd be reaching for the gin bottle (again) if it was happening to me.

Fingers crossed all will run smoothly. By the way ..... we still have 4 mugs unpacked if you fancy calling in for a coffee on the way home.

Chin up mate - it all seems alot worse than it really is. And yeah - you can give me a good slapping for saying crass things like that.

Jan - can't say much more than the above . . . :wah :wah

If your delay means you're going to be around still on the 4th of May, come and join us at the NW meet at the Salt Cellar??? We'll cheer you up, or at least give it a good try :nice1

Hang in there.

What a bummer!!!! :no It's a stressful enough experience at best, so I really feel for you Jan. Remember though that, after enjoying a long and happy life experiencing all that NZ has to offer, an extra fortnight in the sunny North West won't hurt. Spend it shopping for more "essentials" in the Arcade ;)

You WILL get there :nice1

Jan

So sorry to hear the news. Looking on the good side (if there is one) at least no extra charges. We waited 6 weeks to get our medicals returned from our doctor - I was beginning to think I only had weeks to live and she didn't want to tell me!

I know it's all stressful enough without this hassle - but it's only a wee hicupp in the grand scale of things

Chin up

some of these panel doctors...

bummer, the timing really lousy. cant surgery send to you/ redo/ repost without you going in? my best trick is to say i'll make it expensive. ie. sure, fine be there at 3pm. incidently pls credit my card with the sum of £700000000 to cover my time and another £45000000000 to cover petrol, subject to increases at the pump. oh, and the childminder will be £..........

find that when most people consider the potential cost it makes them a little more coop.

Thanks everyone :nice1

Diny don't you dare feel like it was down to you we went there. I spoke to a few people as to where we should go and we could have gone closer, it was our decision to go to Birmingham, you didn't have my arm up my back :laugh :laugh :laugh :laugh ( I wanted to call at yours too for a coffee, thats what swung it !! :laugh :laugh )

Hell no yes its a set back, my family are thrilled could see a little smile appear off a few when we told them :yes :yes

No we did'nt book our flights cos we knew there was a small matter of not having the visas in our hands :no , but we had made dates, on assumption that we would be ok at that stage. So no hardship there. Just goes to show that all your good hard plans can come crashing down on you.

We spoke to OH company to explain and they said 'No worries!!' Great to hear that.

Everyone is wanting an evening to take us out so on the up side of it we have loads more events to attend. :nice1

I was really busy on Friday so OH spoke to an apologetic receptionist who said 'bring them down on Tuesday , they will be sent off and returned on 20th' ???
Why the 20th? where are they going ? why not monday?
So I am going to call them tomorrow and ask all this cos we are prepared to go monday. Someone else asked the question about recompensating us for their error. We will see.

Sold my nice car so we will be bombing down in a rickety little fiesta :laugh :laugh :laugh :laugh Oh OOOOOOO :eek

Will keep you posted

Well we went last Tuesday to return the out-dated cert. Sheepish looking receptionist said she would get them back from the radiologist Wednesday next week. She will post them to us! :eek No thanks we said we will come back to pick them up.
In our extreme impatients to get the visa's we would send them straight away to NZIS from birmingham so they wouldn't have as far to travel from our home! :laugh

Rang yesterday to ask 'What time were we to arrive there to get them?' We were told 3.00pm.

At 10.30am this morning we get a phone call off the sheepish sounding receptionist who said' I'm sorry the cert. are not coming back today' :eek :eek :eek

The radiologist is on leave!!!!!! and they won't be back here till Friday.

We had everything in its place, by the hour, gutted we were.

We are still hoping to be able to go on the 16th May but who knows.

We are cutting everything very fine. All this last minute stuff is primarily down to my stupid police check taking 5 weeks to come back. We just didn't expect it.

So as a warning to others, DON'T EXPECT OR ASSUME THINGS WILL GO SMOOTHLY. OR ACCORDING TO PLAN :no

I have calmed down when I get on here.

Set the scene in your mind when I am being calm whilst talking to her (she could accidentaly lose them, you know what I mean).
To when I put the phone down. http://tcwozere.co.uk/smileys/sneezing.gif

We think that our parents have set a voodoo on us :laugh :laugh

We will get there we know it.

Woah Jan !!!!!!! How do you manage to keep your cool?

I'm nearer to that clinic than you are. D'ya want me to go round and lay the heavies on them :eek

Seriously though, if there's any way I can help give me a shout. (Or do you have to collect them yourselves .... being personal documents and all that).

You'll get there girlie - I just know it. Once NZIS have the right forms it's just a matter of putting the sticker in your passports and up up and away.

Remember .... let me know if you need me to do any collecting for you.

Well Saturday 8.30am our postie had to knock us up with the return of our new cert.

We were at the post office by 9.30am. Off they went. It bothered us because it was also a Bank holiday and we knew there could be a bit of a back-log.

We rang our case officer on Tuesday just to see if she had them and was on the case. She hadn't got them. Can I call tomorrow? Yes she said.
I called Wednesday not there :no , I will call tomorrow.

Today we called at 10.30 ish and she said' I will look and see if they are in todays post, Its not here yet call back this aft.'

We are panicking as we have shipping co. and others on the back-burner waiting for the nod. ( not to mention hubby's employers)

1.30pm my mobile rang asking fo hubby.
It was the case officer saying 'I have processed your application and you will be recieving them in the post next week as I am off tomorrow'

:eek :eek :eek :eek :eek :eek :eek :eek :eek :eek :eek

We are now sitting here in complete shock. Quick or what??

Still don't have them in our hands but hey we are celebrating tonight. :cheers
